A Day of Keeping West Virginia Cool – Life as an HVAC Tech

Morning Preparations – 6:00 AM

The day starts early at Richard’s AC Company, as we serve communities across North Central West Virginia. After my first sip of morning coffee, I check my schedule for the day ahead.

First Call – 7:30 AM

Our first stop is in Bridgeport, where a family’s AC unit isn’t cooling properly. Summer temperatures in West Virginia can be unforgiving, so we prioritize emergency calls. After a thorough inspection, we discover the condensing unit needs cleaning and the refrigerant needs recharging.

Mid-Morning – 10:00 AM

Heading to Clarksburg for a scheduled maintenance check. Regular maintenance is crucial for:

  • Extending system lifespan
  • Improving energy efficiency
  • Preventing unexpected breakdowns
  • Maintaining indoor air quality

Lunch Break – 12:30 PM

A quick lunch while driving to Jane Lew. The scenic mountain roads of West Virginia make these trips between service calls more enjoyable, especially when the summer foliage is in full bloom.

Afternoon Calls – 2:00 PM

In Buckhannon, we’re installing a new central air system for a growing family. These installations typically take several hours, but ensuring proper setup means fewer problems down the road.

End of Day – 5:30 PM

Before heading back to base in Fairmont, we handle one final emergency call. After restoring cool air to a grateful customer’s home, we complete our service reports and prepare the truck for tomorrow’s adventures.

Serving our local communities is more than just a job – it’s about ensuring comfort for our neighbors throughout North Central West Virginia, one AC unit at a time.
